"Goggles Pizzano" (gogglespizzano)

Oh, good grief. I’ve been mum on the subject till now, but can mind my pint and quart no longer.
Anyone who dismisses the new Porsche because it’s reminiscent of the 935/77 is serving the car a giant dollop of injustice. It’s been in a wind tunnel.
P orsche did themselves no favors by revealing the car in a Martini Livery and naming it the 935.
Let the engineering and lap times tell the story.

Okay, but it was clearly designed more to look like a 935 than it was to be fast. It’s a GT2 RS with a body kit... on slicks.

Definitely should’ve been named something like the 911 Langheck

I r
espectfully dis
agree. The concepts used on the 935 were applied here but that doesn’t mean it was styled to look like a 935. To make a 911 lap quicker,
one would want to
lower frontal area, increase down force and aero efficiency, increase track,
and increase airflow to the engine.
I don’t see another way to do these things
.

It’s styled similar to the 935 but the 935 was also a proven concept to begin with. It was a win for both the engineering team and the marketing team.

I
t’s unfortunate that some are dismissing it on the grounds it’s retro
without looking to the fact that the 935 concepts are proven.
There’
s more to the car
than that, I’m sure

My real question is where do you race it? It’s not eligible for any major race or series. The only place I can think of is that you might be able to run it in the experimental class at the Nurburgring with the SCG004 but other than that I don’t think there is anywhere where it can be run.

If it does race in that class in 2020
,
and does well,
I’d be pleasantly
surprised. Other than that,
it’s a wonderful
toy.

I really like this car. But the engineering and the laptimes will tell almost nothing. The 911 nowadays is carefully sculpted with aerodynamics in mind, nothing like the mess it used to be because of ancient headlamp technology. I’d wager that even with the arrangements for pedestrian safety and other regulations, the normal 911 is not hampered significantly or at all by the porsche design language with the raised headlamp domes.
If this car is significantly faster than a normal GT3 RS it will be an embarrassment to Porsche engineers who should’ve designed it correctly from the very beginning given the 935 is 42 years old.

It’s on slicks, of course it’s going to be faster.
